Deadbeat is a project of Scott Monteith.He’s released another album from ~Scape (which is one of my favourite labels).My first thought that crossed my mind when I slipped in Deadbeat’s fourth full-length was “cool… a dubstep album with a Berlin approach to post-techno.When you listen ”gimme a little slack” you will see some changes from his other albums.Industrial music led him to increasingly more beat-oriented styles and into the mid-90s rave scene which was thriving in Toronto, a short trip from his hometown in Ontario, Canada. After hooking up with Mike Shannon and Jeff Milligan (aka Algorithm), Monteith began to explore the possibilities of DJing and relocated to Montreal where thanks to being in the right place at the right time, he helped sprout the city’s potent laptop techno scene.”Where Has My Love Gone.,” is one of my favourite from the album, which may be the strongest song of the disc, bumps into a danceable dub-techno array of swirling acoustic guitar-like sounds, drum washes and enveloping organs.

originally the four tracks on “the thin girl” derive from a live set which joerg used to play as sensual physics. these tracks conjure up memories or moments that link to infinitesimal frozen slices of time, created to last indefinitely. being influenced by the time being, these four parts of the original live set have been rejuvenated and renewed. in re-recording each piece, joerg carves out the essence of the original track and builds on that.each piece is distilled with a touch of accident. whether it be a small break, a crackle or some fading reverb, these random elements expand the basic theme behind joerg′s creation of each track which are just developed further from there, iterated, and reassembled until the pieces fit together perfectly. My favourite Track is : Garden of Apples. I strongly recommend you to listen it!
